Up Up and Away with Chanel Couture SS12
Tuesday, January 24, 2012
When we thought we had seen it all, today Karl Lagerfeld delivered his Chanel SS12 Haute Couture Collection in the dizzying heights of a simulated Chanel Aeroplane. The collection encompassed every single blue hue you could imagine, to be precise 150 different shades. It was a unique concept for one of my favourite luxury brands, at the end Karl even emerged from the Cockpit followed by finale.
The show was in direct contrast to what we saw at Metiers d'Art, this collection was modern, more streamlined and not as decadent. Instead, the vibe was relaxed, with models walking with their hands inside the deep pockets of the lowest dropped waists I have seen. There were certain dresses and separates I loved, although a few I wasn't so sure of, however it was refreshing to see a new air of cool disperse throughout the brand, with inspiration taken by Karl's connection with new muse Alice Dellal, sitting on the front row.

The twittersphere was equally as enthralled with the show, here are some of my favourite twitpics!
